First description of our project[modifier | modifier le wikicode]

First description of our project's idea
Provide a proposition of title for your project

Please answer to the three expected questions:

1. What Problem do you want to solve ?

The problem here is how could we treat the smoke during IT devices’ recycling in order to avoid pollution in underdeveloped countries.

2. Why does this problem exist?

Because of planned obsolescence, we have a huge amount of IT devices to destroy. Most of electronic devices go to underdeveloped country to have a second life, but after that they need to be destroyed by burning there. But in underdeveloped countries, recycling methods in outdoor garbage dump concerning IT devices are really precarious.Indeed they use combustion to keep only the rare materials (such as copper). This leads us to a really dangerous pollution by toxic smoke. In fact, chemicals released during combustion are harmful to health, and often leads not only to population’s contamination, but also land’s contamination.

3. What breakthrough are you commited to creating?

The main problem is how to treat smoke emitted by combustion recycling’s process in underdeveloped countries. Our main objective is to reduce by 50% the quantity of toxic chemicals (such as mercury and lead) sent to the atmosphere after combustion recycling’s process because there is a huge impact on the earth.Another problem raise by this stake is not only the stakeholder’s health who breath toxic smokes but also people who live nearby the garbage dump where they try recycling IT devices. By improving smoke quality, we would like to get healthier air in order to improve people’s health.
